Classic Rock's Education Classes

WELCOME TO THE CLASSIC ROCK'S Educational Classes. It is here that we hope to give you a whole new experience in the gem and jewelry world.

CLASSES - The classes teach you about diamonds, gemstones, pearls, platinum, gold, etc. We will be continually adding to this section so please come back to learn more. We invite you to come to San Jose, California for personal classes in each category of jewelry. Each complimentary class is approximately one hour and helps you experience, first hand, the use of the diamond loupe, microscope, diamond light, scale and much more. For those of you who live out of the area, please call (408) 298-1415 for assistance over the phone.

DIAMONDS - The diamonds are quoted at New York wholesale prices including all the statistics. Learning these statistics is very important in understanding the varying prices of diamonds that may be of the same color and clarity. Our classes clarify the differences of the diamond statistics of cut, so that you may make a wise selection.

REMEMBER: Every single diamond is natural and unique. Even if the diamonds that you may be comparing have the exact color and clarity, each of their statistics are different. You should understand the statistics of the cut as well as the color and clarity before making a decision. Please be careful.

Quick Lessons before visiting the Class Site
First lesson: Always view the diamond under the microscope versus a 10 magnification powered loupe before you buy it. You cannot see everything under the jeweler's loupe. Each diamond's clarity will vary. Example: Not all VS2 clarities are the same because nature made these inclusions. Some inclusions are in the middle, some are on the side, and some have larger inclusions than others even though they are all considered VS2. Therefore, diamonds cannot be compared over the phone, or over the internet like a car, a computer or an appliance.

Second lesson: Understanding the statistics of the cut of the diamond is important. There are certain parameters for the ideal cut (an excellent cut) and the premium cut (a very good cut). Statistics not in these parameters are considered off make and will change the value of the diamond considerably. Example: 3 diamonds that are E (color) and VS2 (clarity) can vary tremendously in price due to the cut statistics of the diamond. If the diamond is severely off make the price can be as much as 50% off the wholesale price. Please take the time to understand the statistics of your diamond.
